Have you ever thought to yourself, "I would love to read a book review written by an AI (artificial intelligence)!" The answer, I'm guessing, is no. However, have you thought, "I wish I could read a book review that has minimized bias, objective intentions, and a very standard viewpoint?" If the answer is yes, then maybe AI can help you out.
You probably already know that artificial intelligence (AI) technology is advancing quickly. My temporary experiment is to create a small ecosystem where an we can reflect on what AI's "thoughts" on books are, in so far as it has thoughts at all. Here, you can see a daily updated list of book reviews that OpenAI's GPT-4 considers to be worth writing, when referencing its knowledge of books liked by a general audience. As it will clarify, this model doesn't have personal preferences like people do. However, by asking it to write reviews based on what it estimates people would answer in general, we can develop theories and humor on what is going on inside the otherwise black box.
